Hi Friend, Tim Lannon from Animation Insights .com. Like most businesses in the United States, animation studios have sent their crews home to work remotely during the covid-19 pandemic. I’m working from home, as are most of my colleagues.

While some projects have been put on hold, leading to some unemployment, most studios are still moving forward with their projects, just doing so with a remote work force.

In fact just today on my LinkedIn news feed, I saw a promotion from Dreamworks. They were advertising their new film Trolls World Tour, but they were doing so in a way that talked about the great artists they need to make such films, and they had a link to their careers page. So they were specifically advertising that they were hiring.

When you click that link, it takes you to their careers page where there is a Covid-19 announcement. Basically they are saying that they are still hiring and their hiring process has not changed, but things will take longer than usual because of the covid-19 pandemic.

If you scroll down a little bit, you’ll see a couple of different links. One of the links is to their Early Career Development Program. This is ideal for students that are looking for internships or have just graduated and are looking for a way to get their foot in the door. These programs are designed specifically to help you get your start in the animation industry.

The other link is to their regular careers page, where you’ll see 21 different job postings. Quite a variety, but there are a couple of animation artist postings there.

So yes, studios are hiring. Dreamworks is not the only one I’ve noticed in my LinkedIn feed lately.

But are you prepared for the job application process? Are you prepared to work from home if you do get the job?

These are just a couple of the things listed on my Animation Job Market Readiness Checklist. I know, that’s a mouth full, but basically it’s a checklist to help you figure out how ready you are to apply for jobs and enter the job market. You can get it for free just by clicking down below.
